About the Culinary Assistance Program
The Auxiliary Culinary Assistance program is looking for members interested in cooking to be trained and qualified to serve at the Coast Guard galley LA/LB, at CG Change of Commands, VIP events aboard cutters in their galleys if the need arises (health requirements must be met for onboard activity).
All AUXFS members have been trained using the Coast Guard Approved Auxiliary Culinary Assistance Guides and instructors. Training includes classroom lectures and culinary skills work followed by a standardized performance qualification completion within one year of the initial class. Medical screenings and Hepatitis A vaccines, yearly sanitation, Intro to Risk Management, and completion of Core Training are also required. Due to strict guidance from the Coast Guard, no waivers will be granted under any circumstances. Effective 2019, AUXCA must complete 12 hours of support to USCG units. (During the COVID restrictions, the required 12 hours are waived.)
